Sun. Fun. Sand.

Growing up, we spent our summers with long reading lists to tackle while school was out. We would head to the local library and check out a few books at a time. It truly was a weekly ritual at our house. A good old fashion library card was your passport to anywhere you wanted to go. We read books like Sweet Valley High, Anne of Green Gables, The Invisible Man, A Tale of Two Cities, The Great Gatsby, Jane Eyre, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Things Fall Apart, and the list goes on and on.

So naturally, we were inspired to use the fun background text in the new Quotes 3 set. It’s an excerpt from the classic tale “The Old Man and the Sea”. It was only appropriate that we paired a left and right facing marlin fish as part of the set. We are using one of them here, on today’s project…

Once the background was stamped in A Blanc Check ink on True Blue Fan cardstock, the marlin image was stamped in our watermark/embossing ink – From an Anonymous Source.  We just love the smooth crisp image that can be created by adding a bit of clear embossing powder and heat setting it with a heating tool.

The edges were die cut with the RicRac/Pinking die cut from Dare to be a Diva Red cardstock, and adhered to the panel for added detail. A sentiment from the Beach Bum set was stamped and popped on the panel. A bulky piece of twine was wrapped around the panel and tied into a knot.

To complete the card the panel was simply adhered to the Kraft Like a Rockstar card base with dimensionals.

Take a peek at your bookshelf, there is an adventure waiting for you, and one that could very well inspire your next crafty project!
